Jose Raimundo – Process Engineer of Valeo Automotive System

“I am Jose Raimundo, Eletronic Engineer, I work for Valeo for 9 years and I was also a maintenance manager for 7 years at Valeo Cantarreira Plant. In the last two years I have been working in the Process Engineer as a Responsible for the development of devices for Valeo Carreira Plant. When PONFAC asked me to record a video talking about the relation between us, I felt sorry because I certainly will need more than 30 seconds to expose that. PONFAC began its partnership with Valeo since 2004, after a tumultuous relation with the old Vision System supplier, where we could find many problems with MTBF and MTTR. After the first projects with PONFAC we realized the real partner, they supplied the complete solution of the Vision System. We got 15% of the time of the cycle, an increased reliability of the equipment with the increase of MTBF (average time among failures) where the old was 0,5 days to 90 days today and the MTTR ( Average time to repairs) for the worst case nowadays we took like an hour. Inspite investment is around 20% more expensive, it is more reliable exchange supplier because of the trust ful equipment. There was a fantastic stabilization of the system after the installation at Valeo.

I believe that a Vision System must be done by specialists, otherwise, it can turn into a trap, because most of the time we think that a single camera solves the problem. We forget that the biggest problem is the integration among all the system and components like: devices, (camera + PC) + IHM + ilumination variation + piece variation + operator differences.
